Who is Bobby Smith?

Bobby rose to fame in 1995 when he founded JUMPIN JIMES with Michael Jones, with the common goal of joining together musicians with the knowledge and influence of rock, rockabilly, swing, and jazz. It was a goal well-achieved with the versatile and experienced abilities of: Tomas Sanderson (Trumpet), Charles Lake (Drums), Andrew Martinez (Tenor Sax), Drew Shaw (Baritone Sax), and Michael Jones (Dog House Bass).

They shared billing with such bands as The Blasters, Lee Rocker(of the stray cats), Big Sandy and The Fly-Rite Boys, Royal Crown Revue, "X", Carl Sonny Leland, Jmes Intveld, Keely Smith, and BR5-49. They have been featured on the Jerry Lewis Telethon, USA's channels Pacific Blue, and HBO's Tracy Ullman show. They have also have done private parties for Gene Simmons of KISS, The cast of E.R., Ted Danson and Mary Steenbergen, Fran Dresher of the Nanny, Suzanne Summers, and Rysher Entertainment.

Jumpin Jimes were an original Rockin band! These cats drew from such influences as: Louis Prima, Cheap Trick, KISS, Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley, The Stray Cats, and anything 40's to present creating a diverse and entertaining style all their own.

Bobby's current project is The Mighty 18 Wheeler. If there were some alchemy through which the aching metal of David Lee Roth-era Van Halen and the shrieking, gnashing sounds of The Cramps could be melded, you still wouldn't have an accurate representation of the crush of styles produced by The Mighty 18 Wheeler. Gene Vincent and Nazareth? The New York Dolls and Tammy Wynette? The Living End and Led Zeppelin? Bobby Bare and Iggy Pop? With their ever-evolving sound, they drive their thrashing rig' of rock and roll fast and hard.

Bobby is now seeking a new band and or new members for a new rock project. Bobby has been playing live since the early 80's. Growing up in So Cal, and being involved in the Sunset Strip movement playiing The Troubadour, The Whiskey, The Waters Club (San Pedro) The Country Club, The Roxy, The Viper Room, The Derby etc, etc,. from 1983-2001 he's played all over Hollywood, Southern California, San Diego, San Fran, Washington, Portland, and Denver. playng everything from 80's Metal, to Hard Rock, Swing, Rockabilly, Country, Punk, and Blues Rock.
